Licensure Facts

The MACHM program meets or exceeds the educational requirements for acupuncture licensure in the following 44 states:

Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Alaska, Arizona, District of Columbia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wyoming.

*The following states do not license acupuncturists: Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Dakota.

Admissions Requirements

  • Minimum 2.0 GP
  • 60 College Credits
    • From an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (equivalency transcript evaluation to determine this for foreign transcripts).
    • 36 of the 60 in General Education and credits in Humanities, Math & Sciences, and Social Sciences (at least one course in each field) – Learn more.

Graduation Requirements

  • Complete 153 credits
    • Acupuncture and Related Didactic Studies: 49 Credits
    • Biomedical Didactic Studies (Western Medical Science): 34 Credits
    • Herbal Didactic Studies: 32 Credits
    • Clinical Training: 32 Credits
    • Ethics, Business, and Communication Didactic Studies: 8 Credits
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Complete the program within 15 attempted trimesters
